About Rodolfo de la Torre
Director of the Social Development with Equity Program at Centro de Estudios Espinosa Yglesias, (CEEY) in charge of health and education research. He is also affiliated professor of Public Finance at the Public Policy and Administration Division of Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE). Previous positions include: Coordinator of the Human Development Research Office at the United Nations Development Program in México, responsible of the national human development reports, indices and analysis; Director of the Research Institute for Development with Equity, at Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO), Ciudad de México; Founder and editor of “Well-being and social policy”, journal of the Inter-American Conference on Social Security; Editor of El Trimestre Económico, the longest running economic journal in Latin America, at Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE); academic member and spokesman of the Technical Committee for Poverty Measurement, which established the first official poverty measurement for Mexico; Editor of the Monthly Report on the Mexican Economy and Deputy Director of the Center for Economic Research and Analysis at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.(ITAM). He has been member of advisory boards for government and non-government organizations such as: Secretaría de Desarrollo Social, FCE, FINCA-México, CEEY y Acción Ciudadana Contra la Pobreza. He has taught public policy and development courses at CIDE, IBERO, ITAM, El Colegio de México y Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He got a BS in economics from ITAM and an M. Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford.
